Holiday rental scams are real, and guests have learned to be wary. A trustworthy listing converts dramatically better than one that triggers any kind of doubt especially for higher-value bookings where guests are committing thousands of pounds or euros up front.
The Verified Owner badge sits next to your listing title and tells guests at a glance: this is a real owner, with a real property, who has been through a real verification process.
How Verification Works
The process is straightforward and only needs to happen once. We confirm three things:
- Identity — we check that you are who you say you are, using a standard ID document.
- Ownership or authority to let — we confirm you actually own the property, or have the right to rent it out on the owner's behalf.
- Rental License — we check that your property has a valid Alojamento Local registry entry.
Most owners complete verification within a couple of days. Once verified, the badge appears on your listing automatically and stays there for as long as your listing is active.

What We Don't Do
We don't pretend that verification is some kind of insurance or guarantee. We can't promise that every booking will go smoothly, that no toilet will ever block, or that no guest will ever be unreasonable. What we can do is confirm to a prospective guest that the person they're talking to is real, the property is real, and the listing isn't a scam.
